Hailing
from the village of Kuchelapuri or Kuchelapuram in the Krishna District
of Andhra Pradesh, the Kuchipudi dance has a history of nearly two millennia.
Since its origin, it has remained a continuous and living dance tradition
of Andhra Pradesh. Its genesis, like most Indian classical dances is
associated with religions, and for a long time was presented only at
temples, and that too only for annual festivals of certain temples in
